I was late to adopt the habit of cold showers, mostly because they really suck.
But eventually I added this powerful practice to my daily routine and now I enjoy it.
The benefits of are well documented – these are my top 3:
- Because they suck and take us outside of our comfort zone they help us build resilience. Resilience that can be applied to every uncomfortable challenge we face in our lives.
- It’s another tool to self-regulate the mind. The cold puts into ‘fight or flight’ mode. Overcoming this daily creates the ability to self-regulate in every stressful situation we face.
- Cold exposure has many healing benefits such as reduced inflammation, strengthened immunity, improved circulation and overall energy and well-being.
If you try this, start slowly by adding 30 seconds of cold at the end of your hot shower. There are many techniques to follow, I follow the Wim Hof Method. But like any habit or practice, only consistency over time will build momentum to create lasting results.
