The Cold Shower

I was late to adopt the habit of cold showers, mostly because they really suck.

But eventually I added this powerful practice to my daily routine and now I enjoy it.

The benefits of are well documented – these are my top 3:

  1. Because they suck and take us outside of our comfort zone they help us build resilience. Resilience that can be applied to every uncomfortable challenge we face in our lives.
  2. It’s another tool to self-regulate the mind. The cold puts into ‘fight or flight’ mode. Overcoming this daily creates the ability to self-regulate in every stressful situation we face.
  3. Cold exposure has many healing benefits such as reduced inflammation, strengthened immunity, improved circulation and overall energy and well-being.

If you try this, start slowly by adding 30 seconds of cold at the end of your hot shower. There are many techniques to follow, I follow the Wim Hof Method. But like any habit or practice, only consistency over time will build momentum to create lasting results.
